This was initially a bit of a worry for us, as we assumed that it would cost us extra money, and we'd need to jump through hoops to get out of the ground with the build. The money part is correct, we have had to pay £250 just for the pre-planning, which was submitted 2 weeks ago, and still no reply.
Usually, the normal planning pre-planning advice is just £50, and it doesn't cover any in-depth advice and specifics for your building, it is a general chat, covering the do's and don't and whether to expect a yes or no when you finally do submit full planning. It was designed to reduce the number of failing planning applications - nice, ey!
We kind of just want to get started now, and I've being crazy on Pinterest looking at laundry chutes, porches and kitchens. In reality, my husband is working a lot of overtime due to the cold weather, and we are sitting tight on our savings trying to add more to the pot ready for when we get the go ahead.
I had created a secret board on Pinterest full of all my ideas, and I've decided to make it public, and share it on here.
You can find my board here
I think that whilst we have the opportunity to design our own layouts, then why not go crazy with storage, and a laundry chute? I seem to spend 99% of my time at home tidying, cleaning and doing washing, so I might as well make my life a bit easier, hadn't I?
The only other thing that is worrying me, is when we start the work, I might actually go a bit crazy. The bungalow is clean and tidy (apart from the awful bathroom), but I don't feel too bothered if it stays messy, as long as it's clean underneath. This is a huge deal for me, I've spent the last 6 years being a clean-freak with an addiction to Zoflora, steam mopping, and my lovely Dyson collection. However, I know once we have something that resembles a house I might grow to love, I'll be freaking out about dust, and mess. Not to mention the added crap that comes with children, I'll be hiding in a corner somewhere, clutching a bottle of gin whilst rocking back and forth...
