Spring has sprung!

The weather is beautiful at the moment, and these long, sunny days are a hint of summer! Which can only mean one thing in the Fox-Household...Getting stuff done!

In the last two weeks alone, we have built a brand new shed, painted it, and emptied stuff from the garage into it. Then we have restored the roof of the summerhouse, built a concrete base for it, and put it all up at the top of the garden.

The chickens walked all over the summerhouse base!

We had some struggles last night, in that the roof of the summerhouse is self-supporting, you need all the pieces folded inwards, together, leaning on each other to stop it from caving in. Only problem being, that there was just the two of us, I'm scared of ladders, and the base of the summerhouse spins...it was an awful experience.

The girls were playing (squealing at each other) in the garden, running around and generally being pests, so I took them inside to get them ready for bed. Whilst I was inside, my clever husband decided to try and continue with the roof, on his own. I heard a huge bang coming from outside as it all collapsed. Lucky nothing broke! The sides were up, and being mostly made from glass, it was a miracle that the roof panels didn't smash the sides and the glass panels on their way down.
We called a friend who came to help, and between them, they had it up and secure in no time!

There will be a decking ledge all around the base, to cover all the unsightly bits, then all round it will be a lovely Indian stone patio for the table and chairs, The sleepers in the right hand picture, above, will hopefully be turned into a bench with a raised bed behind.

Being a shopaholic, I couldn't wait to start getting bits to go in the summerhouse. So far I've bought a lovely cream sofa bed, a wicker storage basket, some 2nd hand tables (to be painted in Annie Sloan Old White), a beautiful glass lantern, some chicken cushions, a chicken picture and a lovely sage green tin, which will be used for colouring pencils, pens, stickers and books for the girls. We are hoping to use the summerhouse as a games room, so all the board games I currently have in my dresser, will go into the basket, and all the colouring bits in the tin. It'll be nice to have a space I can keep cosy, and nice whilst the building work goes on.

I have also ordered some paint samples (Farrow & Ball - French Grey (which is it's current colour)  F& B Purbeck Stone which is very grey and a Dulux sage green colour, called Gooseberry fool 3).

I've also been eyeing up some prints from Desenio, but can't make a decision on those until everything is painted, and inside.
